For nearly two decades, skills development has been the cornerstone of the South African government’s job creation and poverty relief strategy. According to Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, the ‘biggest challenge facing the South African economy is the shortage of skills.

Saldanhabay has long been thought of as a prime location for major industrial development and relief for the Cape Town harbour with significant potential for job creation and consequent poverty relief for the area. But, between the balance of environmental and economic sustainability, it has always been the focus of intense debate on how to attain and retain industrial development that will improve the quality of life of its communities and economies.

To lead part of the team involved in the successful World Cup project is no mean feat. Moira Tlhagale proudly owns that role, which on its own is a major achievement.
